Time Zero
Polaroid Time Zero Manipulation
In 2002, when it became obvious that film photography was to become replaced with digital technology, I retaliated by picking up an SX70 Polaroid camera and loads of Time Zero film to make one-of-a-kind photographs. The people at Urban Dish, the restaurant just below my studio, saw my work, commissioned a piece and offered to let me hang my series there. It was during that show when a member of The Artists' Gallery in Frederick, asked if I would show the group my work to be considered as a member of the gallery. I obliged and was made a member of the gallery!
A few prints and originals are still available for purchase.
In this process, while the emulsion slowly hardened I directly manipulated parts of the film with a stylus to create the half photo/half painterly effect. It is now 2023 and photos I still have show no signs of yellowing or fading.
